  • Forum re-structuring
     OP - September 16, 2011, 11:37 PM
    So we've been planning on a re-structuring of the forum for a while now and we're going to be rolling it out starting this weekend. You will see some new categories and some new boards within the older and the new categories.

    Threads will be moved into the appropriate boards over the next few days or weeks.

    This re-structuring will not affect the URLs/links to threads or posts, but it will mean that if you have notifications set up for particular boards, you may need to tweak your settings.

    If you have questions about anything specific, feel free to post them in the Questions forum.

    This is not the major software upgrade; that will come later. Right now, we're only re-structuring the forum's boards and categories.

    Osman are you ever going to upgrade SMF to SMF 2.0? actually it's at SMF 2.0.1 so I think you should do it. The reason I say this is because, when you do get around to eventually doing it, it will just feel very different and everyone will complain. Plus upgrading will reduce the load on the server and better security.

    No, we decided to not have those things fill up the place, so we have been moving threads to their appropriate boards without a direction post.

    It wont feel very different at all, and the 1.1.x line still gets the same security patches (the changes for 1.1.15 and 2.0.01 were the same ones). I haven't done it yet because of lack of time and inclination to do the custom coding that is required for this place.

    Without the custom stuff, it will feel different and then people will grumble.

    You had your profile settings set to show the post order reversed. Dunno when you did that, but I can't see anyone else screwing around with it. I just reset it back to normal.
