Don't throw up, cry or break anything - admire and respect him for his honesty.
Alot of Muslims are embarassed about these aspects of Islam. Alot of Muslims are in denial about these problematic aspects. I have some sympathy for them. They can't carry out the critique and scrutiny of these beliefs for various reasons, we all know what they are, the ferocity of literalism makes them frightened, the fear of being castigated with the fury and takfir of a divinely sanctioned mob circumscribes their ability to speak about these things.
Some Muslims know that these aspects are problematic but actively dissimulate to try and prevent them being scrutinised - this is the hysteria that tries to shut down debate whenever these issues arise, screams and accusations of 'Islamophobia', 'Orientalism', 'racism', or 'anti-faith bigotry'. I have very little, to no sympathy for these individuals, they are dissimulating, dishonest. They come across as two-faced, and this amplifies a sinister aspect to their line of rhetoric and apologia.
However, individuals like the author of this piece are honest; and its only through honesty, when these beliefs are asserted without any sense of shame or apology, that they can get aired and the world can be notified of the prevalence and troublesome reach of literalist belief inside Islam, without any of the hysteria or dissimulation that can characterise attempts to scrutinise and repudiate these aspects of religion.
So, I respect honest people, and this guy is honest about his belief. Be thankful for his clarity and lack of dissimulation when it comes to problematic subjects like this.
