Says the guy who made his post even longer by quoting mine ;p

I think it's personal for most of us actually. And if you read most of my posts, and given the fact that I was born in a Saudi family, it wouldn't be that hard to tell.

And I don't know if you are being sarcastic about me paraphrasing what you said. Wasn't it your point that it fuels tribalism and the sense of superiority over others?

Can't it be, can't it be mine

It was 1 of those rare occasions when I was not sarcastic, Dude. You were quite accurate paraphrasing me though how laconic it was slightly bothered me. And I see what you mean by it being personal for most of us. High five!

I don't understand what 'protecting ethnicity' means.

The BNP, for example, says that 'white ethnicity' has to be 'protected'.

If its on the level of passing on traditions or rituals or aspects of culture, I see it as harmless, provided that they are benign and flexible and adaptable and non bigoted and non coercive aspects of culture.

Change is the only constant thing in life. The identity and cultures of every 'ethnicity' will change. The idea of 'protecting ethnicity' can easily segue into protecting reactionary attitudes or traditions that smother or oppress the individual.

Protect the individual. Ethnicity is a construct. Whatever is good and deserves to live will survive and be passed on across generations.

    @ billy

In my interpretation "protection of ethnicity" happens (not talking about necessary actions to prevent things like ethnic cleansing here) when "us - insert ethnicity here" is stressed above us - humans and naturally results in all other ethnicities being them and less human.
