    Its now proved fact that imgur has been dropping all the requests that have reference from this site. Are admins doing anything about it?

    Scenario 1:
    You post an image in imgur, and you post in [ img ][ / img ] tags. And it works for you.
    Now somebody else comes in and read your post, they only see empty box.

    Scenario 2:
    You post an image in imgur, and you post it as a link. And the link works for you.
    Now somebody else clicks it, and get "Forbidden" message.

    Scenario 3:
    Someone see an empty box, right click, and copy paste url in the browser, and it works.
    Now that person go back to the CEMB window, and the image is there.

    Conclusion:
    imgur is dropping all the requests from this site. But it works as long as the image has already been loaded in the cache.

    Action Required:
    Either

    Remove the "Host images at imgur.com." Option in the reply box. And post something else like imageshack.us

    Or

    Fight imgur for unfair treatment.

    My images never stay up, I presumed it was just me.

    I post a picture and it works fine for a while, but then when I re-check the thread its simply a blank box but everyone elses images are still up, as far as I can see. Even registering to imgur doesn't seem to help...the images that I add onto any thread just remove themselves after 5 minutes.

    Thats most probably because you are using Internet Explorer, which is now turning a resource hog. It stoped relying on cache and usually request data every time from server.

    Download an extension/add-on that will automatically rehost the image. Problem solved.

    Yeah sorry about that. Using imgur was Aziz's idea and it never worked well. I just haven't got around to editing the templates as I never use that option anyway and keep forgetting.

    Anyone got a suggestion for an alternative that does work and is as easy to use?

    ETA: Deleted the imgur crap.

    This works quite well, can we add tinypic.com to the message box incase newbies want to add pictures.

    I havent tried Muddy's recommendation imageshak, but I am sure it works just as well

    Here an example of a tinypic image that I uploaded - can others confirm it works?

    uppix.net I find to be better than both of the above^. Super quick, no captcha and you can upload (and save) up to 30 pics at once if you decide to register.

    The uppix one loaded faster. TBH I find imageshack and tinypic to be too slow. Painfully slow in the case of imageshack. I'll look at the template again tonight.

    Can someone from here e-mail  alan@imgur.com (the guy who owns imgur) and ask him why this is happening? A lot of atheist stuff is uploaded there, so I'm sure it's not because of content.

    These image hosting sites have plenty of bandwidth. Thats why they opened it for all to share on all kinds of different forums. So I highly doubt it has anything to do with the server capacity.

    TinyPic downscales images when you upload them, imgur doesn't.
