This feels kind of strange, I feel like I am with my people  dance

    Thanks for the parrots!

I left Islam religion because I just came to realise there is no giant space daddy who cares about us or about anything that we do. Islam was a psychological burden and just quite stressful. One of the things that led me to leave Islam was a greater and deeper search for what is true and 'who am I?'.

This has led me into delving into non-duality and non-dual philosophy.

At the moment I am trying to figure out how I am going to break the news to my family as right now I have been living a double life and am playing the part of a Muslim, or at least, a liberal Muslim quite well. It's not too troublesome but a deep sense of not having the rights I deserve is kind of present. I'm not really bothered about lying to my family, religion is a lie in itself so if they are willing to believe in the lie in god well then the can believe in the lie I present to them.

Someone gave me the link from The Student Room forum.

    Hi Saleri!

Telling your rents is a huge move ... possibly. Tread wisely - no need to upset them if you really don't need to. But then again, you may need to so you can live your life accordingly.

what good reasons do you have to tell your parents that you left Islam dear saleri??
Why do you want hurt them??
Are they forcing any Islamic rituals such cousin marriage  on you?

The best policy is live and let them live and don't break the news unless it is necessary. Well they may get satisfied if you tell them that you are an "ISLAMIC ATHEIST" ., you know it is new Islamic sect apart from those 73 sects..

Are your parents very religious??   lol.. and welcome to CEMB...

I live in the UK at the moment, i was born here, but two months after birth i went to Hong Kong for four years then Singapore for eight years then came to UK, with family of course.

i think i may just tell my family i am a 'Sufi Muslim' haha, since i am very much into Jungian psychoanalysis and Non-Duality. My mum is very religious but my father not so much, she does it i think for the culture and community. I dont think she could ever force me into a marriage, she hasn't got the power and my dad would make my mum step off if she tried anything, my dad recognises the religion, doesnt pray but hasnt really said anything about religion, he tends to keep quiet when the subject comes up.

My mum and dad are Pakistani. Although I dislike religion and Islam i love sufi music especially qawwali music, its amazingly euphoric.
