Anyone here watched the first season of this show? Like it?

Yes, I just finished the season, very entertaining. Though I was disappointed with the rarity of fantasy elements.

    SPOILERS:

Hmmm... I kinda liked how they kept it 'down to earth'. But that's how I prefer it. Season 2 will definitely feature monsters, i.e. them baby dragons.

It's become one of my favourite shows. It's amazing in every way. Great story, great acting (was especially pleased by some of the child actors on the show) and high production values. They've done an excellent job of turning the book into a television series. One thing that did annoy me was the "sexposition" scenes. There are other methods of adding exposition to the story without somebody fucking somebody else in the background.

Agreed. At some points the sex scenes wasn't even necessary.

I haven't read the books, Naerys told me too... need to order it soon!

OMG you are so slow.  Tongue

I have been hooked from the start.  The sex doesn't bother me after all I am a true true blood fan lol seems to me that gratuitous sex scenes have become some kind of integral part to most new shows, the world be a'changing again.

The finale was awesome.  I already knew that there wouldn;t be too many fantasy elements to start off with as IIRC I didn;t read the rest of the series because the book started off with more intrigue than I was looking for back then.

I'd probably enjoy that more these days so fuck it, I;m off to amazon.  Got a long lazy summer ahead of me, need books to fill it.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

Incest... midgets... retards... guy with no balls... it's like every porno I've ever seen, plus dragons. Me likes. Some of the dialogue was really good. Dissapointed there weren't any actual war scenes though.

I don't think I've ever hated a fictional character as much as I hate Joffrey. The kid who plays him is brilliant in it.

Yes Joffrey is a right bastard. His mother, however, I would think is far more poisonous.

The problem isn't that the sex scenes are overly explicit or anything like that, it's that some of the sex scenes simply aren't needed and are used as an extremely crude method of explaining the motives and personalities of characters. The Petyr Baelish and Maester Pycelle scenes are the worst examples this. They each had a monologue directed at random prostitutes, revealing their innermost thoughts, which seems like a weird thing do for characters as conniving as Baelish and Pycelle. Maybe it's just the book purist in me, but I'd expected them to provide the backstory in much more subtle manner.

Cersei's worse, IMO. She's extremely manipulative and dishonest. Joffrey's just a spoiled twat.

    The problem with Littlefinger's scene with the whores is that it reveals things about him, and his way of thinking, that might ruin the impact of the final scene of that particular episode. The one with Pycelle plainly didn't make any sense. I didn't get the point of it. To show us that Pycelle is evil? We already knew that, also {books spoilers}

There's absolutely no need fpr making him more sly than he actually is. He is just a Lannister lickspittle, nothing else. So I'm not quite sure what they're trying to do there...

Lol yeah the imp is the only lannister who is interesting.

But OMG.  HBO are saying they intend to run the show for as long the books keep coming.

    I think I just came a little.

I need season 2 asap but I have to wait so long.   Cry

Oh well, the books shall sustain me until then.

You know, I wish I had read the books before the seeing the show, just to see if how I visualised them would have differed from the show.  Since as I read now, I see the shows characters, which is always weird.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.
