  • Eid is coming soon...How to Avoid Eid Prayer (2011)
     OP - May 15, 2011, 02:32 AM

Mark your calendar, August 31 is Eid Al Adha and it's going to be coming soon. What are your excuses for getting out of Eid prayer? Feel free to share them.

I told my parents I was feeling sick during Eid-ul-Fitr last year so I didn't have to attend it.  Cheesy

This year I'll probably just go and fake it. I mean there are two Eid prayers so it's going to be suspicious if I miss both prayers each year right?  Wink

August 31st is Eid-ul-Fitr (not Eid-ul-Adha).  It's not so much the one day of Eid that's bothering me, rather the 30 days of pretend fasting before.

Hopefully I'll be out of the country! But if not - at least my new sister's in-laws are nice to hang around with. Might as well make the most of a sticky situation!

I feel a bit sorry for all the 60+ people who will be fasting for 15+ hours a day. And the teens growing up. I don't think it is healthy.

Yeah the Eid prayer is really not a big deal. Its the whole ramadan, and especially the taraweehs that can be quite bothersome. Talk about waste of time.

What I'm concerned about is not starving to death during August. In previous years I'd buy food at school (and the old mysteriously-two-week-long-period trick helped) but since it's pretty OOC for me to go out every day I'm kinda fucked.
And the whole thing about taraweeh too. I refuse to lose that much sleep.
Luckily this year I'll miss Eid prayers 'cause it's also college enrolment.

We need a Ramadan tips'n'tricks thread for those of us who have to make some sort of pretence at fasting. Or something.

I left Islam 3 days after Eid-ul fitr  grin12 Ramadan this year will be hard (for us in the UK) first few fasts will be like from 4 am to around 9 PM, taraweeh will be after 10.30 or later!

I don't have to lie to my family anymore why I do not pray or fast. I came clean a few months I professed to be an atheist but I still have to lie to other people my family has relations with for my family's sake. This Thursday an uncle of mine appeared out of the blue to stay at my house for a day and I'd to fake a fever not to go to the Friday congregation.

I'm even willing to come out clean to anyone if they insist me on taking part in any of that baloney.
So whatever it takes, I'm done hiding.

I usually have a cigarette to break my fast and pretend its the first one for the day and I am having a dizzy spell, thats only if we have friends or family over, my household knows I don't fast. Eid prayers I have to take my father-in-law to mosque, I just wait outside till he comes out again

^Alright then... if that happens every year though, shouldn't there just be a stickied masterthread for it?
