    Serious question: Do you mind non-ex-Muslims (like me) intruding on your Sanctuary?

    Positively welcome it. grin12 World feels too small otherwise.

    hi i come from a not so much of a religious family though some family members practiced more often than others. I constantly was getting lectured to prey prey all the time and i felt something was missing in my life and wanted a change from the stress and anxiety of day to day living. I decided to prey one day after a lecture during the month of ramadan. I grew a beard and started to prey 5 times a day. At first i felt welcomed at the local mosque and attended discussions at communal gatherings. There was food being offered all the time and i noticed people only attended for the food and not really care what was said. I went to other mosques and the imams had different opinions and islamic advice compared to other mosques and centres confusing me in a big way. Eg if you miss one salha you will get 33 millions years in hell!!!! WTF. basically to cut the long story short i was not benefiting from prayers but only getting agitated and angry with everyone. The knowledge of the prophets marriage to a 9 year old really struck me. SO i quit and here i am on CEMB.

    As long as they interpret it in a good way, which most Muslims do anyway

    Or to be less trite, do you have any data to back this up? You haven't met the majority of muslims, who actually live in Indonesia, where there areas in which they practice Sharia law, about as literal an interpretation as it gets. I get that the majority of muslims that you have met are moderates, but it's a whopping great big stretch to extrapolate that to 'most' muslims.

    there is no harm in anyone being a Muslim.

    There is demonstrably harm to real human beings in other people being Muslim.

    @rabksaj

    I mean that claiming that 'most muslims' interpret islam in a 'good way' is a huge, sweeping generalization that doesn't appear to be grounded in anything but anecdote. I would love to be wrong about this.
