  • An ex hindu from India
     OP - April 10, 2011, 11:27 AM

    Hi guys

I am an atheist from India.I left my religion  a few years back although i was always skeptical about god from an early age .Never liked going to temples and doing puja. Both my parents and my sis know that i am an atheist.Since it is easier to leave religion in Hinduism than in abrahamic faiths(IMO).I joined this forum to know how atheists were doing in islamic countries also to discuss how to promote atheism .By the way is anybody here from India? Tongue

Welcome bro. I'm an ex muslim from Pakistan. Dude hinduism is a cool religion, I'd stay a hindu if I were born that way. I always thought puja, holi, divali, etc was much cooler than what we get here Tongue

I also love diwali and holi i love the culture of Hinduism but as an Atheist i know that i would be wasting my time sitting in front of an idol and worshiping it .One more thing L2PK from your avatar i see you are a big fan of bollywood which likes to promote hinduism showing hindu ceremonies in grand style but it leaves out all its negative points like caste system, stupid astrologers who will approve whether two  persons should marry by looking at their Janampatri. Many marriages are ruined in India by these priests and astrologers.

Cheesy I'm not a fan of bollywood.. but yea you're right. All religions are fairly boring if you truly believe them, and each have some fucked up points, with hinduism the caste system etc, and with Islam.. just about everything from a to z  cool2. Which part of India are you from?

I dont think BJP would agree with you on the grounds that leaving Hindusim is easier. Hinduism is more Cultural than Religionous so in essence it would be more harder for you to leave Hinudism than Abrahmic Religions.

Plus Hinduism has its own sects, even some who refuse to eat potatos or harm a animal, but on other hand would marry a Dog to ward off evil curses and may indulge in a shower of Cow Urine.

Welcome. Its good you left your faith, I too left Islam, its a barbaric Imperialistic faith!
