  • Trials and tribulations.
     OP - February 14, 2011, 11:56 PM

So, allow me to set the scene for you....

A few hours ago in a casino far away (500 metres to be exact) I had bought in to a £10+£3 rebuy tournament. 60 players and a £2000 prizepool (top prize around 800), I was feeling lucky.

I had a hell of a night of thrills and fright, some beats, some wins, some risky all-ins, but I made it to the last 20 looking shiny clean. Average stack 15,000, I had 35! A kid from nowhere took all but 5. Thought I had a 10, with a three ten flop, but I just had a king, and my stack size dropped.

Down to 5 and almost out, 12 players remaining, unless something lucky happened, no way I was gaining. So final blind came, 2000 BB which was all in for me, I shoved with K, 4, but alas they had more, 2 pair and a straight, with me and a pair of less then 8!

I lost to some good fellas, but it still made me yellow, 12 position I came, prize seat 5 places away at seven, my heaven, but I missed out on the tops. Quarter past one in the morning, and I lost on the flops.

My message to you, is when you play poker, make sure you remember what you have, or you might be leaving top prize to the chav.

I need either to a) drink a lot of vodka or b) learn about haram card games to understand you, coker. Welcome. How about an introduction?

Ok, ex-muslim and poker player. That's about it.

During the day I do wierd stuff, but at night I play poker (you want to know something wierd? A LOT of Muslim brothers from the community can be found in the casino playing poker).

I also eat pork and drink gin, and I am partial to women from time to time.

    What's the astaghfirullah for?

Allah tells us in the quran according to sura 9:29 that we should play poker and beat the kuffar, it is a very islamic practice:

"Fight against those People of the Book [Christians and Jews] who do not follow what Allah and His Messenge acknowledge as the true religion (Islam), nor accept Our law, until they pay the Jizyah tribute tax in submission."

See, what he means is play tournaments against the Christians, Jews, atheist kuffar and beat them until they pay tax (Ie, until you reach the payout seats) and make sure they submit to you.

I one day inshallah will beat the kuffar in the WorldSeriesOfPoker when the kuffar give me the 9 million dollars jizya and the bracelet of submission.

Muddy, I will go to Chicago (or New York or wherever you are) and will hug you kindly, until you tell me the secret of the parrot. Then Islame will not laugh at me. Ameen.

    Not all the time subhanallah.

But remember rasoolullah did not win every fight, for example uhud.

LOL you are such a bad Muslim, muddy.

Cokerface, stop your blasphemy, rasoolulah was perfect! It was Allah's fault, he decided to test the believers by sending them throngs instead of legions of helper mujahidoon angels!

Thanks, sorry, but I was drunk, it's hard to take a near-miss to the final table and the money positions in a MTT in poker without alcohol.

    Good topic, very insightful.
No joking here: I heared by some imam that there is some hadith which tells that "muslims may endulge in gambling against kuffaar, but only if they cheat and they win from the kuffar"  Cheesy

And it made me think of..
