No, it doesn't rewrite the home page. There's a setting in Firefox which just opens the last tabs the person has visited. In his case, it worked against him. It was his setting in Firefox. It does not rewrite that. It just opens a dialogue box every time the user clicks the close button.

It's quite nasty. Not truly dangerous, stupid, though, at least on Chrome.
It also tries to make you install one of those crap spyware toolbars.

Ok, that's funny shit. Easy enough to deal with but could drive the technically challenged insane. Really it's no worse than a lot of porn sites, which often do similar things but without the bouncing window.

I'm going to wait and see what the IRC logs say before deciding if this needs any further action.

ETA: oh and it's precisely because of dodgey sites that I don't use that auto reload setting.

And no, it doesn't rewrite any browser sttings.

This is a nonissue. I posted a link, I was aware of the content. It isn't "malicious" in any way. Whatever my intent may have been, it's simply a prank site, I admit that it's in bad taste...literallly. I didn't use any bait-and-switch tactics or anything like that. Q-man, hastened to click the link and I don't think anyone who has over 7000 posts would have any trouble closing that site.

As for the malicious part, there is none. It was simply a setting in his browser that was causing him trouble. He came on chat and started cursing me out. I apologised, I figured out what the problem was and I helped him solve the problem out, step-by-step. End of story.

But he wanted me to get banned for it. He didn't even mention that I helped him fix the issue. Osmanthus has checked the site, and it exhibits no "malicious" behaviour. I request the admins to post the log here. And thanks for hearing me out before taking action.

So, Q-man, you need to stop being bitter and GROW THE FUCK UP.

Well tbh I can see how it might be a real pain if someone was working on a draft post or whatever and had to force closure of their browser. That would be annoying. Apart from that it's not really a problem.

Anyway I suggest everyone chills for the moment. Swearing at each other isn't going to help matters. Thinky will drag out the log from IRC when he has a chance.

ETA: In fact I think I'll lock this one for the moment just to save on flamebait.
