    Doesnt work?

    IRC Chat

Web interface - freezes on some pakistani singles dating ad
IRC- comes up with page cannot be displayed

Also, any chance of changing these titles to something less techy are more meaningful to the average user e.g. chat

Titles are easy. Not sure about the other as it's an external thing and we have no real control over the formatting of it. Their server might be playing up. Happens with IRC sometimes.

yep, probably as others dont seem to have the same problem.  Perhaps another IE user can try it?

dont worry about it for me though, I was just thinking about other IE users, its not something that I will use..

Well having a second browser open for the IRC wouldn't really be a big problem if it is an IE bug, since they would only be using it as a chat and not as a browser as such.

No mate. It opens as a new window or tab, not as a separate browser. In other words, it's still running via the same basic application.

What I mean is that if for some bizarre reason one prefers to use IE (which is kinda like expressing a preference for oral sex with warthogs) then one could also open a another browser (of the non-warthoggy variety) and clicky the IRC link in that instead.

Tell me about it. Ever tried writing templates/css that have to work in LTR and RTL languages and in all versions of IE? Fuck that shit. Now they're threatening to release another version (IE9) which is sure to have quirks of its own to add to the ones of 6, 7 and 8 (which will still have to be supported dammit). The whole damned IE development team should do the world a favour and swallow a bucket of drain cleaner each.

I agree that the sidebar titling "IRC Chat" could be made to simply read "Chat" or "Chatroom". The links below could read "Click to enter" for the Mibbit link and "Click to launch IRC (client required)", or something similar.

Tested mibbit with msie8 on w7 and it seemed happy as larry.

Tbh I'm not sure we even need to provide the IRC client option (and your proposed title is rather long). We could just have a Chatroom link for the Mibbit interface and be done with it.

Oh and Chrome sux. FF FTW.  Tongue

I agree that the IRC link is probably unecessary. It would probably be more useful to substitite it for a Help link to a short article explaining what the chatroom is, how to behave and "advanced" settings for 1337 users who have those IRC client thingies.

    Oh, and I like Chrome but I'm like a crack-fiend for FF add-ons, so it's a no-brainer for me.

I'm a total whore for GUI customisation so Chrome doesn't even rate (nor do Opera and Safari ). My setup of FF offers more functionality than Chrome but uses less screen space. Win/win.

Anyway the short article isn't such a bad plan. Anyone who needs to be told how to behave probably wont though.

Yup, if you don't know what an IRC client is and how to use it already you probably wont want to know. Aziz put that in and he's a Nix command line freak so go figure.  grin12
