It's actually kind of a fun experience, beyond the bigotry and disgusting attitudes of some people.

May Allah (swt) accept your Umrah and Ramadan and bestow peace upon you. Verily, all praise is due to Allah.

That's useless. You should have prayed for me to get a husband! That's what all my old aunties do when they go there. "Oh Allah, get us rid of that spinster before she shames us all"

Wow, those are some nice pics. I always thought the Prophets Mosque looked beautiful, with the simple white color and design.

It's very Rationalist and symmetrical. Kind of intimidating.

I'd also like to add that I went to Heaven, according to this hadith:

"Between my grave and my Minbar lies one of the Gardens of Paradise, and my Minbar overlooks my Pool (hawd). Let him stand by the Minbar to make supplication."

I thought it read minibar for s second.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Nice pics Abood, especially of the big clock. Is it not offensive/haram to take pictures inside the Makkah Sharif? I say that because I don't think I'd want to be caught taking pictures there by the police that walk about!

Interesting how the mermaid/Mary Magdalene is taken out of the Starbucks logo! I remember seeing Ariel's arms all covered up at the Disney store.

I don't think it's haram, but you're not allowed to take pics in either mosque. A lot of people do, though. Just make sure cops don't see you. But sometimes they don't care, because there'd be a lot of people doing it all at once.

My dad said the last time he took pics of the prophet's grave, the cop asked for his camera, and when he refused, he had to go to the police station.

Oh ... and what happened at the police station ... ? You didn't mention any bad outcome so I assume some boxes were ticked and he was let off scott free ...

The police officer asked for the camera, and my dad slipped the memory card out while handing it to him, and the guy was like, "Do you think I'm stupid?" Grin

I think he just deleted the photos, though.

I see. Well, I was in India once and visitors had to pay 50 Rupees to take pictures at this nice garden. I had my camera, but didn't want to take any pics. The security guard demanded I pay. I told him he can have my batteries, I don't care about taking pictures. After touring the garden I came back for the rechargeable batteries. "Can I have my batteries back please?", I asked. "50 Rupees, Sir", the security guard smiled in satisfaction. Then after a long argument I paid up, and took about a hundred photos. Doh!  Embarrassed
