Well, fucking with your metabolism i.e. going catabolic can induce a short-term weight loss plateau in some cases.

But for the most part, metabolic damage is overplayed and IN < OUT is the winning inequality.

Also, I'm the same. Fitness is so much more than looking good.

My mind runs, I can never catch it even if I get a head start.

That's what refeed days are for. I was on an extreme cut to the point that my weight loss stagnated after about a month, and a refeed day was all I needed to get back on track. I basically used the excuse of needing to increase carbs to pig out on candy. I actually felt gross after and just wanted to get back to cutting. Win – win. Cheesy

It's really easy for me to slip up and become skeletal because my natural BMR is much higher than the average :(

This was one of my crowning r/Fitness moments. I started a chain of body dysmorphia comments.

Eh... a refeed day is a cheat day with a purpose. I've never done a cheat day otherwise. If I wanna "cheat" I just eat a bit of junk  food as long as it fits my macros. I definitely don't prevent myself from some chocolate or candy, especially now since I'm bulking.

Cheat day has a very negative connotation. For me specifically, there isn't much of a functional difference between "cheating" and planning a re-feed.

Cheat day is supposed to be re-feed day. It should be somewhat conditional on macros. The problem is that all these big YouTubers and stuff have turned it into gluttony day.

Both serve to break up the monotony of a strict diet. I might go overboard sometimes but that's only because I can.

Honestly bulking is a drag sometimes. Sometimes I go out and I just forget to eat.

The difference is that a refeed day is physiological and not just mental. That's why you need high carbs.

A cheat day can definitely be useful if you feel you need it, though.

I treat re-feed and cheat day as the same. Both indicate a deviation from my usual diet, mainly to replenish (whole) carbs and leptin levels.

However, this isn't a license to fuck up my weekly progress.

In this sense, a cheat day is both physiologic and mental.

I favour calorie dense foods when bulking. Otherwise, it's just too taxing.

    I cannot emphasise this enough.

    Quote from: Taken from Reddit
People keep asking me how I lost all this weight. The most common questions I get are things like "what's your workout routine?" or "what's your diet?" And I never know what to say to them. Whenever I ran I wouldn't run with a specific goal, but rather with a specific question. While running, I would always ask myself one question in order to make myself stop running. That question was never "Am i tired yet?" The question was never, "am I satisfied yet?" I never asked myself. "do I look skinny yet?" "Do my legs hurt yet?" "Am I short of breath yet?" "Is my heart pumping yet?" "Are my shins splinting yet?" "Do my calves burn yet?" "Did I run this number of arbitrary miles or this specific length of time or this specific speed." No. Instead, whenever I started running, I would always ask myself, "Am I happy yet?" And if the answer was no, I kept running.

Be forewarned, that if you're actually trying to get happy that way, it doesn't work. Getting good at things, reaching secondary goals, yes, but not happy.

I get happy when I am trying. Today I shoveled out a car stuck in the snow, tried to push it, threw down resistance, and nothing worked. It was colder than hell and my face froze a dozen times and my feet were wet and freezing and I was happy. Because I was trying to help her. Of course some big man came over and grabbed the window frame and poof the car was gone. But I did my best- and it made me happy.

Maybe I would be happier if I was involved in some sort of conflict. That always gives one a good incentive to try.  Tongue

190lbs atm, might go up to 210.

Being lean is really annoying as my body struggles when I weigh less than 170.

    Holy crap, 9 times a week? :O

And here I was feeling proud of my 5 per week workouts Tongue. From experience it will probably just take you a few weeks to get back to where you were. Good luck!
