  • Problem with Firefox
     OP - July 21, 2010, 08:23 AM

I'm having trouble navigating through a Firefox page with my keyboard. I'm not able to use the following buttons in navigating up and down the page:  up/down, home/end, page up/page down. Instead I have to use the mouse. This extremely inconvenient as I have gotten used to using the keyboard and specially when reading this wesbite as every page contains up to 25 posts.

Also, a blinking cursor has appeared in Firefox. I looks like the cursor from Office Word. It's a blinking cursor and it's treating the Firefox page like a text document. IOW, when I move it by the up/down/left/right buttons it moves letter by letter or line by line. It moves too fast and somtimes skips 10 posts in a fraction of a second.

BTW, this problem is on Firefox only. IE is working fine.

Which build of Firefox? Might be a bug in it. I'm on 3.6.6 and it's fine but 3.6.7 came out today.

The problem started the day before yesterday. I uninstalled Firefox this morning and installed the new version 3.6.7 but the problem hasn't been fixed. I don't think the problem is caused by the new version.

BTW, the spell checker has stopped working as well.  Afro

We've never had one as far as I know. I've always used the one in the browser.

ETA: Nope. Just checked again. Our server isn't set up for it and we've never seen the need to do it since any good browser has built-in spell check.

OK then. The browser's spellcheker has stopped working.

If I write "invistigaesion" it doesn't correct me.

Looks like you somehow went into design/editing mode. Is this only here the case?

What do you mean only here?

The cursor appears on all wesbites and I cannot navigate through the page with the keyboard. If I press the "Up" button it goes to the top of the page and if I press the "Down" button it goes to the bottom of the page (IWO, the Up" button is functioning like the "Home" button and the "Down" button like the "End" button).

Also the spellchecker is not working in all websites. I tried the spellchecker on Youtube and it's not working. This all started the day before yesterday. I didn't change any options. Although I did visit a couple of new porn wesbites.

Could it be a virus? what do you suggest I do?

The spellchecker is still not working though despite the fact that I have checked the relevant box:
