     OP - July 10, 2010, 02:04 PM

I have never been good with introductions so if you desire to know anything else about me that i do not post just ask. Hi, my name is Chris and I have a confession. I am not nor ever have been a muslim. I am just a bored opinionated individual with a computer and internet connection.  I am a 21 year old student who has been an atheist since age 16. I live in Minnesota and wish that the summer would end so that the temperature drops to a comfortable zero. I have a few interests that border on obsessions one being that of history. not sure what else to put so doors open for questions.

Minnesota eh? Lucky you to have all the wilderness/parks/outdoors ... I'm not liking all this heat in South England either (28C today) , I look forward to the temperature dropping too. Enjoy your time here. Afro

It is not as nice as you might think. Minnesota is the land of 10000 lakes, how many mosquitoes do you think there are?

That's why I said we 'try'.  Tongue  We certainly do a better job than any Muslim forum, or most other anti-Islam forums.

The human brain can never be 100% unbiased in anything.  We have evolved various cognitive biases that make us irrational. Cry  So it takes an active effort to be rational. Smiley

It's not that it's hot, it's the issue of sweating loads, smelling more, elderly and babies more at risk, having more showers, washing more clothes, carrying more water, people losing their temper, sticking to seats, dehydrating, more easily getting cramps when playing sports, waisting more electricity on AC's/fans, dying grass/plants, water hosepipe bans, ruined lawns, increase of wasps/bees, being stung by wasps, afternoon exhaustion, difficulting sleeping, sunburns, tanlines, flying ants, being sunblind, losing sunglasses, people fainting on the London underground, etc. I like the cold and rain, you can choose to warm yourself up. That said, 22 C sunny day is just fine. And if you really like sweating, there are always saunas!

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I remain.
