    Islame,

my real crisis lasted about 3 weeks, then it was a habitual thing that came up somtimes. The key to leaving tobacco is to change the daily rituals connected with smoking (coffee, smoking after having a meal etc)... Try replacing the cig by a cup of tea or chewing gum, it helps.

Just look at the sun and the moon, rotating around the earth perfectly! Out of all the never ending space in the universe, the sun and moon ended up close to earth rotating around it perfectly.!!

It almost seems as if there are more smokers here than amongst a random average collection of people. I wonder what that says about being an ex-muslim and a forum addict...

There's quite a few non smokers here too though

But who doesn't want to be all cool and liberal and indie chic?

Cool, BD will you be my special "recovering alcoholic friend" when you come up?

Met up with a special recovering alcoholic friend yesterday or a few drinks at the pub, so felt obliged to get some smokes in.

But I allowed myself that excemption, so still on the non-smoking bid.  Fancy a cig now, but taking your advice Bardhi - gonna replace it with a coffee..

like I said dude, cold turkey is almost impossible. But what you are doing is a really good start. Keep at it, man!

    Who here smokes?

I'm seriously considering quitting forever  Cry

It just goes so well with morning coffee, after a meal and when drinking. And other activities Grin

I have quit over the years but I have been smoking more or less since I was in high-school. I told myself as a compromise I would only smoke when stressed and when going out, but now I'm back to smoking regularly again.

My main issue with is that it's so unhealthy but more specifically the health risks. I have a sore throat now and I'm freaking out, I'll just take that as a reminder for a possible and serious health concern.

Lung cancer, throat cancer, OK any cancer is bad. But that smoking increases the chances of these two?   mysmilie_977

I smoke about half a pack a day
    can't be bothered to quit
    enjoy it too much
whatever way you look at it
    you're gonna die
    accident intent or inevitable

dying because I get old just doesn't sit well with me
my clock is ticking regardless of what I do to slow it
I work in the labor industry
why would I want to bust my back for another 60 years???
and studies have shown that retired people degrade faster than semi/non-retired
so if I DO retire, I've added years that will come off anyhow
    it's a catch 22
if you enjoy smoking, then keep smoking
    if you don't, then stop
    most other factors are non-issues
my wife and I smoke outside the house
because the house is a closed environment
meaning, it will speed up issues caused by smoking
we started this with just the bedroom
waking up to clean air in the bedroom was much nicer
so we expanded to the whole house
no more dry eyes and throat
and we smoke less in the winter
and people don't complain when they DO come to visit
as I don't tolerate complainers, I don't have to kick anyone out anymore
I take the thunder out of non-smokers when I say
"time for a shot of cancer"
    what are they gonna say???
    "the stuff will kill you"

    really?

    Sex booze and rock&roll
    you know
    the finer things in life
