    Funny though, it's two years later and things are still at the same place with his family banghead

    Sorry to hear that Zoomi.
    We had a similar situation with my father-in-law and we didn't see him at all for many many years, but it did improve in the end.
    Now we see him once and sometimes even twice a year even though we live in different countries.

    My mum-in-law (they're divorced) was always cool with us and was even quite supportive in her own way.
