you're not the only one, I could say I'm afraid, but i'm technically not,
I just assume that they'll laugh at me for some odd reason, so i get all shy and embrassed and run everytime a man is near me.
Sucks because when I get shy, my whole face goes red, it's hard not to notice it
i avoid men like a plague because of that.

Your girl friends could help you out with that one.  Get them to find you someone and push you to meeting anyone you think is good for you, if your shyness gets the better of you.

My friends are muslims girls who are just as shy as me, they just don't go red.
So i'm going to have to work this all out for myself.

All you need my dear, is a bit of self confidence in the end.  Get to know yourself better and while you're at it try to find ways of getting a little more used to guys.  You'll get there don't worry.   Wink

It does help-a lot! Especially if you get flirty with them. As a 16 yr old I was well scared of talking to guys by the time I was 18 I was confident enough to talk to guys in their 20s  Smiley

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Yeah, I used to MSN with girls all the time in high school and early uni. It didn't help one bit in making me any less nervous.

I don't get people being more outgoing and confident online or over the phone than in real life. Is this a generation gap thing?

A degree of social phobia perhaps.  Huh?

I'm an extrovert, however, if I meet a guy that gives me butterflies in
my tummy, I stutter, and usually wind up running away LOL.
Especially when they smile and give  me the "look", and I  feel
    the same way.

i think it.is more like confidence issue. i can do things far away different that face to face.
phone and internet provide the option of 'if you arent confident . it is cool'

Hmmm... though I was only a Muslim for four months, as an apostate, I see more now how asexual I am. I had to repress my lack of sexual desires as a Muslim because that could get thorny too (at least the Muslims I knew told me that). Whenever I think of intimacy with any man, I get the same feelings. As I wasn't a Muslim long, some of it was rooted in bad relationships before my turning Muslim, some really bad things as a Muslim, but I might suggest therapy. I'm thinking of going back.

I'm an ex-Catholic and ex-Muslim with me being born Catholic. Catholicism and Islam are the same thing really. I feel the same way as you, but mine is more health related.

Yep, that's Catholicism. Islam puts it like that except in marriage.
