there is no such thing as a soul..
if you cut the blood flow to .. say .. a finger..and it dies.. does your soul leave that finger?.. while it lives on in the rest or your body??
pretty soon you're going to tell me that souls are ghosts.. floating around with angels... or gins..
Very well said nessrrinn.
I would add that if you go around asking people about their definition of a soul, you will get different responses from everyone. Some people will play with words so much that you are almost tempted to say: "well if that's your definition of a soul, I believe in it!". I mean, if someone says that the soul outlives us; and it is made of matter and doesn't have the same kind of consciousness that we understand, then I can probably agree with that. When someone gets buried, the atoms that used to make up their brain decompose and turn into soil over time. So, yes, the atoms outlive us in that sense!
But they are no longer a collection of live neurons that possess consciousness.
