This is a great video. He is very articulate and easy to understand. I like his tone too. I myself am too aggressive so I appreciate it a lot Cheesy.

What an amazing video. I think maybe proving with quotes from Quran why non-muslims go to hell would be good?

I still have a hard time accepting it, I guess because of Shia background.

It clearly says shirk is unforgivable, which king of makes it pointless for a trinitarian to "revert", but then again it also says Allah forgave shirk - another contradiction Smiley

    Excellent video!

It is rather confusing is it not. Damn Muhammed Mecca and Medina verses!!! Because you will notice Abu Yunus mentions the verse where the believers and the sabieans and the jews etc have nothign to fear. But then it says something else later on. Which is a contradiction. Seeing how the Quran can not have contradiction, we have something to fix that. Called abrogation.

Which just leaves me wondering why the fuck god couldn't make up his mind in the first place? Being the All Knowing and everything.
  • Re: Dear Muslims...

i don't think that beleiveing in the trinity or saying jesus is the son of God is shirk. unless i'm mistaken the Quran does not strictly consider these to be shirk (my guess is because the both still involve beleif in the one true creator). i also do not beleive there is any abrogation within the Quran (when abrogation is mentioned in the Quran, it is refering to earlier scriptures).

therefore there appear to be contradictory statements in the quran regarding what happens to unbeleivers etc. But i do strongly hold the opinion that verses that say unbelievers or people who reject Muhammad well definately go to hell was specific to people who heard the word directly from the Prophet. This might perhaps be because it would be easy to recognise a messenger of God if he was indeed the messenger of God, these people therefore rejected the truth after having come to know it (this is what the word 'Kuffar' actually means). Therefore this apparent contradiction is solved if one holds the veiw that unbleivers who direclty rejected Muhammad are considered Kuffar/coverers of the truth, whereas those who did not directly hear the word of Muhammad or were not present when the Quran was being revealed, are not. Therfore yes, the woman in the video could easily be forgiven according to this interpretation.

“Those who believe (in the Qur’an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”

    2:62

‘’Those who believe (in the Qur’an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.’’

    5:69

all you have to do to be considered Muslim by God is beleive in the one true creator and beleive in his judgement.

i would also just point our regarding shirk - although the Quran does say that shirk is not forgiven by God, it does not say that these people are definitley destined for hell.

i admit i am thinking outside the box, but i beleive these are valid interpretations.

    لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ

"Indeed, they have disbelieved who have said, “God is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary...”  (Quran, 5:72)

"Indeed, they disbelieve who say, “God is the third of three,” when there is no god but one God.  If they desist not from what they say, truly, a painful punishment will befall the disbelievers among them...  (Quran, 5:73-75)
  • Re: Dear Muslims...

"Indeed, they have disbelieved who have said, “God is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary.”  The Messiah said, “Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord.  Whoever associates partners in worship with God, then God has forbidden Paradise for him, and his home is the Fire (Hell).  For the wrongdoers,3 there will be no helpers.”  (Quran, 5:72)

The verse says 'they have disbeleived' in the past tense. The verse also says 'the Messiah said' - again what jesus said in the past. This might indicate the verse is refering to Christians in the past who twisted the words of jesus and worshiped him as God instead.

"Indeed, they disbelieve who say, “God is the third of three (in a trinity),” when there is no god but one God.  If they desist not from what they say, truly, a painful punishment will befall the disbelievers among them. Would they not rather repent to God and ask His forgiveness?  For God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.  The Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary, was no more than a messenger...  (Quran, 5:73-75)

the phrase 'the disbeleivers among them' might indicate that not all people who beleive in the trinity are disbeleivers.

I agree with Hassan. AbuYunus, what do you think our fate is? What does the Qur'an say about people like us? Does it only ever address unbelievers who lived before and during the time of the prophet, or does it also speak about unbelievers in the future?

i don't think the fate of unbelievers of the future (i.e. after the prophet) is discussed too much, if at all, in the Quran. But i do think it's quite clear that unbelief in general is forgivable.

But not shirk? If you associate others with Allah then you can never be forgiven, right?

Talking about not being clear, can you answer 2 questions for me AbuY please?

As a Quran-only, is alcohol forbidden?  Is circumcision obligatory?

They are both important questions for muslims from the day they are born to how they conduct their lives in future.  Can you clarify if the Quran is clear on these 2 matters, and why

    Cheers Afro

What is the difference between the two plurals?
