Here we go with the denial.

No again I took issue with your gross generalization which relies upon instances of genocide in different locations by different people direct towards different targets to make a grand conclusion about your 80% figure as if all 80% were killed by genocidal purpose. I completely acknowledge Asbie's example as Asbie provided such. You have yet to provide a single source for your 80% figure. When to put to question you strawman people as it is easier to do than support your own argument.

I was speaking in a figurative sense. Maybe I used the "80%" figure in a wrong way but that didn't negate my point about Native American being wiped out  by European colonists in large numbers or do i have to be specific with the numbers too for you to understand and not have an issue?

    Sheesh!

As I said I took issue with the percentage put forward. That was my issue not if a genocide occurred even a smaller percentage of the total population. The figure you used to my knowledge is an evaluation of the indigenous population speculated before discovery until the1900s. Hence why I included influences which do not fall under the definition genocide. I can not read if you are typing figuratively or not. It has always been an issue I have had which carries over into sarcasm as well. This one reason why I go out of my way to ensure people know what I mean by using some sort of tag. Also when people bring up a statistic I expect it to have some basis.

It's not especially controversial that a lot of natives died due to spread of western brought disease ahead of western contact.

This debate does encompass a lot of different people and different governments with different policies and motivations over a long period of time.   There were certainly specific policies towards specific groups of natives that had the purpose of elimination of forced removal.  At other times, governments sort of tried to respect treaties with native groups but found themselves under pressure from settlers who would ignore those treaties and expand into native held lands.

Really, it's a silly argument.  No, there wasn't a single unified policy under a single government like the final solution that resulted in the death of the majority.

The long term trend was pushing against an already disease ravaged population with specific policies and campaings at specific times by different peoples and governments that were 'genocidal" towards certain tribes
