The article is gone now but the name of it already looks revolting.

    Didn't someone quote it?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

I don't know...there's something about him! He can be very hypocritical at times and it rubs me the wrong way.

Know what I've been thinking? Maybe the thing that will cause reform in Islam is many more Muslim women apostatising due to the backwards rules and religious texts. Too many are just accepting their place as less than -_-

I dunno. In the western world at least you have all these rights and freedoms so what you actually choose to accept, or how you accept it, is something that can be tailor made.

You do have a point. But many Muslim women in the West also accept the religious texts and the sexist gender roles. Some will defend them while others will interpret them very liberally to suit their lifestyles. If they were to start rejecting them altogether, Muslim men might gradually begin to change their attitudes towards women.

Narrated Aisha: I used to look down upon those ladies who had given themselves to Allah's Apostle and I used to say, "Can a lady give herself (to a man)?" But when Allah revealed: "You (O Muhammad) can postpone (the turn of) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive any of them whom you will; and there is no blame on you if you invite one whose turn you have set aside (temporarily)." (33.51) I said (to the Prophet), "I feel that your Lord hastens in fulfilling your wishes and desires."

    This Hadith explains it all.

Some people may say this is derailing the topic, but I think homophobia (at least today) is entwined with misogyny, and can I just say I fucking love Maajid Nawaz. I really like how he challenged that girl who started speaking at 18:08 saying you can't be gay and muslim.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DJI7D5hU-mU

More Maajid Nawaz not being a scary brown muslim murderer but showing muslims can be, and are, human beings who we can and should be held to the same standard as anyone else (okay, this may be derailing the thread).

Maajid Nawaz explaining that muslim doesn't equal terrorist - difference between islam and islamism.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9EqSuNewrQs

Maajid Nawaz showing that a self identified muslim actually can speak with anti-islamists and ex-muslims as a rational human being and not just as a sword swinging beheader.

From Muhammad to ISIS: Iraq’s Full Story by   Tim Urban

anyways...... here is some history after th alleged prophet of Islam died...

    Quote
632: Death of the Holy Prophet.   Election of Hadrat Abu Bakr as the Caliph.   Usamah leads expedition to Syria. Battles of Zu Qissa and Abraq. Battles of Buzakha, Zafar and Naqra. Campaigns against Bani Tamim and Musailima, the Liar.
633: Campaigns in Bahrain, Oman, Mahrah Yemen, and Hadramaut. Raids in Iraq. Battles of Kazima, Mazar, Walaja, Ulleis, Hirah, Anbar, Ein at tamr, Daumatul Jandal and Firaz.
634: Battles of Basra, Damascus and Ajnadin. Death of Hadrat Abu Bakr. Hadrat Umar Farooq becomes the Caliph. Battles of Namaraq and Saqatia.
635: Battle of Bridge. Battle of Buwaib. Conquest of Damascus. Battle of Fahl.
636: Battle of Yermuk. Battle of Qadsiyia. Conquest of Madain.
637: Conquest of Syria. Fall of Jerusalem. Battle of Jalula.
    638: Conquest of Jazirah.
639: Conquest of Khuizistan. Advance into Egypt.
640: Capture of the post of Caesaria in Syria. Conquest of Shustar and Jande Sabur in Persia. Battle of Babylon in Egypt.
641: Battle of Nihawand. Conquest Of Alexandria in Egypt.
642: Battle of Rayy in Persia. Conquest of Egypt. Foundation of Fustat.
643: Conquest of Azarbaijan and Tabaristan (Russia).
644: Conquest of Fars, Kerman, Sistan, Mekran and Kharan.  Martyrdom of Hadrat Umar. Hadrat Othman becomes the Caliph.
    645: Campaigns in Fats.
646: Campaigns in Khurasan, Armeain and Asia Minor.
647: Campaigns in North Africa. Conquest of the island of Cypress.
    648: Campaigns against the Byzantines.
651: Naval battle of the Masts against the Byzantines.
652: Discontentment and disaffection against the rule of Hadrat Othman.
656: Martyrdom of Hadrat Othman. Hadrat Ali becomes the Caliph. Battle of the Camel.
657: Hadrat Ali shifts the capital from Madina to Kufa. Battle of Siffin. Arbitration proceedings at Daumaut ul Jandal.
    658: Battle of Nahrawan.
659: Conquest of Egypt by Mu'awiyah.
660: Hadrat Ali recaptures Hijaz and Yemen from Mu'awiyah. Mu'awiyah declares himself as the Caliph at Damascus.
661: Martyrdom of Hadrat Ali. Accession of Hadrat Hasan and his abdication. Mu'awiyah becomes the sole Caliph.

So in that  approximately 30 years  history  of early Islam after the death of prophet during the regimes  rightly guided Caliphs ..Two  father in-laws and two son in-laws of Muhammad.....  there were hardly any internal wars with-in Islam .  .Many wars were against other tribes of arabian peninsula...

Boy early Islam was all family business of Prophet....

    But when the prophet
Muhammad died quite suddenly in 632, it appeared that his religion might
altogether disappear. Many of the bedouin tribes that had converted to Islam
renounced the new faith in the months after Muhammad's death, and his
remaining followers quarreled over who should succeed him. Though these
quarrels were never fully resolved, the community managed to find new leaders
who directed a series of campaigns to force those who had abandoned Islam to
    return to the fold.

    Seeds of Heresy

Not everyone was in complete agreement with Muhammad and the Quran, a.k.a. Islam’s most holy book. Several leaders who had previously converted to Islam soon began committing acts of apostasy such as claiming to be prophets in their own right (Muhammad, according to more than 99% of Islam’s 1.7 billion followers, is the seal of prophets, meaning no other prophets are to come after him). An example of the many false prophets that claimed to come after Muhammad include leaders like Musaylimah, leader of the Banu Hanifa. Even while Muhammad was alive, Musaylimah he was a supposed magician, and claimed to be divine. These leaders would play vital roles in the upcoming wars of apostasy.

    Quote
Having converted to Islam during the lifetime of Muḥammad, the Mahra (along with a number of other Arabian tribes) rebelled against the first Caliph, Abū Bakr (d. 634 CE).  Under the command of ʿIkrimah, a Muslim army was sent to subdue the rebellious Mahri tribes.  On his arrival to al-Mahra, ʿIkrimah discovered that al-Mahra was divided into the less numerous followers of “Shakhrīt of the Banī Shakhrah” who lived in the lowlands of al-Mahra and the more numerous Banī Muḥārib in the mountains, whose leader was al-Muṣabbiḥ.  Exploiting this division, ʿIkrimah entreated the Banī Shakhrah to re-embrace Islam and when they did so, the combined army  of ʿIkrimah and “Shakhrīt” defeated the Banī Muḥārib (al-Ṭabarī, vol. 3, 263).  The medieval historian Ibn al-Mujāwir (d. 1204 CE) adds a grim coda to this first chapter in the history of the Mahra:
