Good news guys, it turns out the Qur'an doesn't take issue with homosexuality.

    I'll fess up something!

My views have been shaped by the film Lawrence of Arabia, and more recently the depiction of Xerxes harem in 300!

I got the impression homosexuality in the Islamic world does have a long tradition going back to the Greeks and many other peoples of older powerful males enjoying young boys and young males.

So is all this harrumphing and extreme behaviour an import from xian fundamentalists into Islam?

That's true, but it has nothing to do with Islam, theologically speaking. There will always be sexual and gender deviancy, in every society ever, regardless of its rules and scriptures.

I should add that I don't think it has anything to do with Greek culture. Arab culture has always been homosocial—and of course a lot of Arab culture has been exported to non-Arab societies through Islam—and it's no surprise that that can lend itself to physical and sexual intimacy among men. It still happens today.

I agree that there will always be sexual (experimentation??) and gender deviancy etc..etc.., in every society

But  I would disagree with other statement.,  No no that is not true

How can we say that "it has nothing to do with Islam"    When Islam for that matter even other religious sayings/scriptures and the preachers/leaders of these religions  control human sexuality??

As far as Quran is concerned., it is a vaguely worded book., for every statement you generate from  a verse of Quran, you can generate an opposing statement/argument from another verse from Quran...

on that let me add today's news from juice from juicy land....

Jerusalem Gay Pride: Six stabbed 'by ultra-Orthodox Jew'

A photographer captured the moment the attacker raised his knife

    Quote
Police have arrested a man after six people were wounded in a stabbing at the Gay Pride parade in Jerusalem. A police spokesperson told the BBC that the suspect was the same man who stabbed four people at the parade in 2005.

Yishai Schlissel, an ultra-Orthodox Jew, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for that attack and was released from prison three weeks ago. Two of the injured are in a serious condition, the ambulance service said. Eyewitnesses told Israel's Haaretz newspaper that the attacker emerged behind marchers and began stabbing them while screaming, before being tackled by a police officer.

The march has long been a source of tension between Jerusalem's secular majority and its Jewish Orthodox communities. Hundreds of police are deployed along the route to prevent violence breaking out.

ha!...  suspect was the same man who stabbed four people at the parade in 2005..... The guy is still there in 2015.. 10 years later..
