Let us just forget about scriptures for a moment and watch reality !
Every living thing knows that they came out from nothing and will meet death somehow. If living and non-living things just come out of chance , then life does not have any purpose for its existence and we can do anything we are able to do like walk nude, kill life , conquer wealth , eat anything , have unlimited sex , build structures , make rules , etc.
But the question here arises that why chance does not create immortal beings or chance has been forbidden to produce such things. Is there someone who create things and set their expiry dates? Man got superior brain than other species and he proved it by ruling on other species and by inventing useful machines. But still in many areas he fails to succeed like beating natural disaster, saving life , bringing his ancestor back , creating living thing ,etc. I know that an atheist will say man can do all this with constant efforts taking time. While we know much time has passed and many generations have tried on these things ending with failure. Likewise among other species, one is superior to another in certain abilities but no one is found to have beaten death .
What it suggests ? Everyone has limitations except the CREATOR . And who can tell you history except the CREATOR . Scientists says human originated from monkeys and apes then why they have left their ancestors . They should celebrate their birthdays with monkeys and apes. Well, I am pleased with the answers from GOD in quran . And I thank GOD for sending prophets and messengers to guide mankind to truth otherwise we have been just wandering blindly in the land . I will thank GOD again when he will raise me again in 2280 A.D. for judgement and seal my destiny. No doubt GOD is the most merciful and love to guide his creatures accepting repentance but those who transgress like satan deserve hell.

You say God is most merciful and transgressors deserve hell.

I say one contradicts the other.

    Unless merciful means cruel monster.

    Mindless gibberish

Anyone got a moron to English translator?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Perhaps Hassan is asking me the meaning of merciful and I have to say if you do not punish someone for any act forbidden by you means that you are merciful!
Now put the word “GOD” in place of “you” in above definition. I say GOD has forbidden the act of telling lie and you can see persons not getting punished for the act. That means GOD is merciful. Well, atheist can say that no punishment due to no GOD. Now these persons repeat the act of lying continuously until death overtakes them . After tasting the mercy of GOD these persons became heedless and expect GOD to become more merciful so they may resume the act.
If you don’t mind let me call a historical event, Satan disobeys GOD when disobeying is forbidden by GOD.  Here too CREATOR do not punishes at first place and ask him politely the reason for disobeying. After the answer of Satan, GOD just ask him to leave the place while having the option of punishing him. Again Satan is overtaken by the mercy of GOD. In the case of man, Adam also disobeys GOD and CREATOR do not punishes him at first place. According to definition I can say GOD is merciful. When GOD do not punishes even after repeated disobedience I can declare GOD is the most merciful. Those who do non-stop disobedience are nominated by GOD for severe punishment.
I am happy to say that my father Adam made good use of GOD mercy and repented immediately. If GOD has not been merciful, he would have destroyed both Satan and Adam in the first place they disobeyed and no one would have saved them from GOD. Accept it or not, every creature have tasted mercy of GOD many times and I wish to follow my father’s footsteps rather than going on the way of terrible punishment . At this point I remember a famous proverb “ Prevention is better than Cure “ especially when there is nothing available for cure.

Zahirul, by that logic Hitler and Stalin were indeed also most merciful, for they did not instantly annihilate all those who disobeyed them.  This is the mercy of a brutal tyrant, which is no mercy at all.

God is going to burn Satan in hell for all eternity, suffering infinite hideous torments that God devised (as Creator, this is what He has chosen to Create), so I'm not sure Satan's fate is your most compelling example of 'mercy.'  It would actually be a mercy if God annihilated Satan permanently, rather than consigning him to eternal Hell.  What God has planned for Satan is a monstrous torture of infinite duration, and to cite this impossibly ferocious punishment as 'mercy' is ...

It is interesting that the Yezidis have actually made God merciful towards Satan.  "“We believe [Melek Tawus] is a proud angel, who rebelled and was thrown into hell by God. He stayed there 40,000 years, until his tears quenched the fires of the underworld. Now he is reconciled to God.”  So there at least we have an element of mercy.  In orthodox Islam (and Christianity), by contrast, there is no end to his agony, and no reconciliation.  Just the Creator's infinite, unforgiving fury.

So if God is merciful because his punishments are delayed, which is the point I was able to salvage from your post, then what will he be once his punishments are enacted and he instead spends his eternity burning people alive, pouring molten brass down their throats, beating them with iron hammers, and dragging their faces through fire? “The Formerly Beneficent, The Ex-Merciful?”

No, at best that only means you showed mercy for a specific thing. As Zaotar said you can find examples where Hitler or Stalin showed mercy.  It does not mean they were merciful people. Far from it in fact.

Not to mention that God claims to be the Most Merciful of those who show Mercy.

Yet most humans today are more merciful than him.

In Islam, many words like historical and merciful mean the opposite to what they mean in real life .

We are beholden to the societies we live in. For better and the worse this has worked and failed all over the world at different times. I see no evidence of humans doing anything other than what they wish to do while making excuses to do so. We eat anything we want unless it kills us or someone makes a rule against it. We build what we want until the structure fails or someone makes a rule we can not build what we want. The only difference is the rules and the excuses religion provides under the authority of a god, which no one can verify nor falsify.
Let me try an experiment right now. Is it moral to kill people?

These same failures of man are failures of god. God does not prevent death, these nature disasters (Nepal), etc, etc. Humans have a valid reason for being unable to do so. It is beyond our abilities at this time. While god has this ability but never uses.

An alternative is that god does not exist thus there is no issue with a lack of stopping disasters by your comparison.

Ah this is the fun stuff that's been missing too often around here due to the lack of Muslims.

My question is why do you think the Quran got it right about God while all other scriptures got it wrong (eg. Bible, Bhagavad Gita, Book of Mormon, Egyptian Book of the Dead, Vedas)?

You are assuming people are lying but you do not actually check if they are lying. You accept their guilt because an authority figure told you they were guilty. What is the authority figure is the one lying? Of course you would never question the authority figure since you never care about justice nor other humans who are not part of your own group.
