  • Of hudud and hypocrisy: Brunei

So Australian 60 minutes did this feature on hudud in brunei. They kept saying "sharia law" but I think they meant "full" sharia law, ie whereby even hudud is practiced. It seems that it only affects the commoners while the royals, who made hudud enforcable in the first place, are still allowed to enjoy haraam earthly delights.

And it's part of a greater trend of islamisation of the south east asian region. Indonesia's Acheh started the hudud trend, Brunei followed suit, and Malaysia's Kelantan wants to jump on the bandwagon.

also, cue the lawyer and self identified "human rights activist", who wishes for apostates to be killed and deems a woman's testimony worth half of a man's.

"we stand firm calling to allah all the time,
we let them know - bang! bang! - coz it's dawah time!"
