  • Moon & Venus this Evening!
     OP - April 21, 2015, 11:02 PM

Taken at around 9pm on Tuesday 21st April on Willowbrook Farm. The Moon with a very bright planet Venus above it. The Moon is 235 thousand miles away, while Venus is 162 MILLION miles away! It is our closest neighbour. (Though sometimes Mars is, depending on where they are in their orbits) As for the stars (which are of course Suns outside our solar system) the NEAREST one is 4.24 LIGHT YEARS away! To a human being standing on the Earth's surface, it looks as if the Moon, Venus & the Stars are all the same distance away, adorning the canopy that covers our Earth - despite the fact they are millions of miles and light years away from each other!! Perspective is a powerful thing.

Nice photo - Driving past the reservoir on the way home tonight the Moon and Venus were both low in the sky and reflected in the water. I stopped the car but didn't think of taking a picture.

Well my mobile didn't quite do the view justice as it looked breathtakingly beautiful with the naked eye.

It's amazing if you think about it.

Mobiles never do justice. I've been thinking about investing in a camera and seeing if I can sell some of the pics.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Would a dedicated camera do much better than a mobile? I'd have thought you'd need a camera attached to a telescope to catch it in all its glory.

These days the cameras on mobiles are not much different from dedicated cameras - no?

There must be an Islamic perspective on this!

When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.

Well the picture is clearly proof that Islam is true.

What more proof do you want FFS!  Roll Eyes

I know my phone doesn't see what my eyes do, where many pictures I view seem to.

^ Maybe you just need a better phone Tongue
