     OP - January 26, 2015, 08:52 PM

So ye I know it's a whole lot of crap but due to extreme boredom and not settling into a routine as yet I have been watching A LOT of conspiracy theories videos on youtube and I can see how the average person can believe this. I mean look at this video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-nvpgRk5to

They present family guy as a predictive program and use media that's very dated to prove a point, yet it can appear very convincing to the average mind. I find it hard to believe that the producers of family guy took so much effort to firstly produce something that is hidden with so many clues u have to dig for and then purposely air it before Robin Williams death. Also the fact that the program ran at that time on BBC3 a channel not available everywhere nor gauranteed that everyone or majority of the viewers are watching it, its all such a far stretch, yet sadly this video can convince a lot of gullible people. I wish there was more videos on debunking conspiracy theories.

Conspiracy theories always rely on pattern seeking. Humans are extremely good at finding patterns in things that don't actually have them. It's why Newton spent a bunch of his time trying to find hidden messages in the bible and we have evangelicals constantly making predictions for the end of the world based on the bible that fail.

If someone is proposing a conspiracy, ask for hard evidence, not them trying to show you some patterns or trying to cast some suspicion on one minor part of the official story

I've long said that the true modern religion is Conspiracy Theory.  It's essentially a neo-gnostic movement that dominates most people's view of the world.

It's very easy to explain everything as the *decision* of a powerful hidden agency.  A compelling way of explaining why bad things happen and the world is pervaded by evil -- it's Satan, here in the guise of shifting hidden evil powers.

Telltale signs that you might be a conspiracy theorist:  Obsession with something you call the "Official Story (tm)," failure to take responsibility for any specific testable hypotheses, seizing and exalting anything puzzling as 'proof' that the Official Story is defective + thus you are right, interpreting every negative development in world politics as the *planned intention of the evil power.*

Don't listen to Zaotar. He's been bought out by the illuminati. He's paid by the government to promote the Official Story and cover up that the 9/11 attacks were really conducted by Jewish Aliens from the planet Xenu spacecraft

It's especially stupid when you realize there have been multiple moon landings!

It takes far more energy and time to clean up bullshit than to spread it around. I don't know how motivated someone would be to debunk conspiracies and who would fund such research.

I know Michael Shermer does work on debunking some of these cases. You could subscribe to the magazine "Skeptical Inquirer"

I mean just looking on youtube there are like THOUSANDS of conspiracy theories videos and I found just one short (yet good) video explaining how to call bullshit in a conspiracy theory.

If anything is mass brainwashing ppl it is the conspiracy theories and how free the info is available and how gullible people can be

What's always amazing to me is how convoluted the conspiracies get.  It's as if they argue that it can't be a real sandwich, it must be a complex simulation of a sandwich, and the media's all under control to make it SEEM like a real sandwich.

Why would anybody do that?  It's a lot easier just to make the sandwich.

Like the moon landings, it's a lot easier to just build the rockets, fly them to the moon and back, rather than conduct the most elaborate hoax ever known, with thousands of participants and outrageously elaborate sets.  It's like they perfectly simulated absolutely every single element of a successful moon landing program ... built the rockets ... and then DIDN'T ACTUALLY DO IT!   MUHAHAHAHA!!!  Genius plan!!!

some are saying that yes they went to the moon but their photos werent too good so were done in a studio with a fake moon landing scene,  apparently the lighting comes from all directions on the photos which proves theyre false, well so i heard on discovery channel - which has some of the most laughable conspiracy programmes on tv

Absolutely true. And it is not like once you debunk it that particular conspiracy theory stays dead. It will just keep cropping up until most people who don't believe it are tired of debunking it over and over and over again...

how come nobody here hasn't brought up "the arrivals" yet? this series of vids was sensational among the muslim world! every muslim kid was talking about it! I remember when I was a kid, everybody was like "you have to watch the arrivals, the akhira is coming, NWO/America are minions of the dajjal, Mahdi's coming," etc. there's even people who claimed that "the arrivals" made their imaan stronger, made them stop watching porn/Hollywood movies etc. next thing you know, it was translated/subtitled into Arabic, Urdu, Indonesian, malay, etc.

I remembered they even spawned a conspiracy theory about themselves too. sunnis were claiming that it's shia propaganda, to lure sunnis to become shias, etc. can you believe that? a conspiracy theory about a conspiracy theory!

here's all the vids combined into one. it's frikkin 8 hours long! they used to release each individual vid with each vid lasting about 10 mins, there must've been about 50 vids that they've made.

That could easily be squashed and trashed in to dustbins  from  every religion  once we  educate the public  that   these so-called religious books /literature is NOT from allah/god/man in the sky/whatever but books/stories of their time., 2nd thing we need to  do is INSULT THE IDIOTS IN PUBLIC DEBATES  who are graduates/well educated yet throw their common sense out of the window and fool   millions of innocent people  by preaching from the religious literature as word of god..,  Often theses high profile criminals do that for politics/power grabbing and personal benefits

I actually can't think of many things that make me instantly dislike a person more than hearing that they are conspiracy theorists. They could be the fucking paragon of kindness and virtue in every other way, but if they even so much as utter, "Well, I'm just saying, don't you think it's a little bit too convenient that..." it's over, get the fuck outta here. I've overdosed on them and now I have no tolerance left.

Well the Christian blame of the Jews played a role in the Holocaust.

They were not abolished of collective guilt of killing the Son of God by the Catholic church until the reforms in the 60's.

For Lutherans read this: Luther on the Jews and thier lies.

Now they are the protecters and maintainers of the country that will trigger the second coming of Christ. So it's all cool.

On-topic here are the proofs that the 80's movie "Back to the Future" was a secret "warning" about the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 grin12
