Niger: 45 churches burned in Charlie Hebdo protests  Says Arab News.com

Smoke billows in a street as people demonstrate against French weekly Charlie Hebdo's publication of a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad near the grand mosque in Niamey, Niger, on Jan. 17, 2015. Niger officials said Monday that at least 45 churches have been burned nationwide in protests against Charlie Hebdo. (AFP PHOTO / BOUREIMA HAMA)

    Quote
NIAMEY, Niger: The Niger government says at least 45 churches have been set on fire in this predominantly Muslim West African nation in protests over French cartoons lampooning Islam’s prophet.
In a statement issued Monday, the government also declared three days of national mourning for the 10 people who died amid the violent protests that first began on Friday.
Authorities have said that the victims were inside churches and bars set ablaze by protesters angry about the portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the French news weekly Charlie Hebdo. The publication was the subject of a terror attack that left 12 dead earlier this month.

Wow, why would they go for churches if the people that drew these cartoons were clearly not Christian..?

Probably just any excuse to attack the Christian minority in their country.

Guilt by association. France is seen as Christian so in turn Christians are responsible in some twisted minds. Obviously none of these people know CH takes shots at Christianity as well.

Or they're just frustrated and vicious thugs who'll gladly take any excuse to terrorise anyone.

That too. Honestly I doubt it takes much to get these type of folks to do anything violent.
