I get your point. But the potency of protest against the ideology of ISIS is lost in the disgusting nature of the protest itself.

Fecal matter is part of life, fine, but it can't be used as a weapon of dissent. It just undermines the purpose.

That’s actually the part that bothers me the most: its presence feels like it is validating the Islamic notion that menstruation is somehow 'unclean'. If you want to soil something Islamic then use something more appropriate — like shit, for instance.

Or is it simply because Islam considers it unclean? In that case, why not put a pork gelatine–laden trifle on top?
