In Saudi Arabia, woman can be whipped by a religious policeman for 'inappropriate' attire. The policeman may be younger than the woman's son. I am sure it must be extremely humiliating for the woman to be whipped by a boy. This is how Islam respects women. Are these women who spout such nonsense aware of the facts?

They are perfectly aware. They just insist that the Al Saud do not "understand" Islam properly. They insist that Shariah is being "misapplied" by everyone. Really, only they, themselves, understand the original texts, they claim. Everyone is allowed their own interpretations, they say.
They say, and they believe.
So they open the garden gate, let the lion in, call him "Kitty", give him hugs and huge dishes of milk, a place to lie in the shade, and then gasp in horror when that lion eats their children.
It's all a huge misunderstanding, they say.
