Sigh, I wish I could be black metal singer Cry. My voice is only suitable for soft songs. I have this weird feeling that if I ever sing like that, my vocal chord will be damaged and I will have a shrill male voice.

Black Metal can have clean singing in it too, ya know…

I don't know why, but I've never been much into metal.  A few songs here or there are cool, but it just seems like gibberish and garbage for the most part.

     Reply #35 - February 19, 2014, 01:11 PM

Wow, if you consider those tracks garbage and gibberish you might want to try one of my favourite (deliberately) lo–fi bands, Drowning the Light:

I don't know, but Metal just comes off as typically phony and ridiculous.  If you're into music that simply is meant to stand out and offend, I'd stick with shock rock, but even that is garbage, but at least it's funny Tongue

But then again, maybe I haven't listened to the right albums.

     Reply #37 - February 19, 2014, 09:12 PM

It’s not about ‘offending’. Not all Metalheads or musicians are teenagers trying to surprise their mummy and daddy ya know…

I'm not sure how we can help you out understand that we find that kind of music genuinely appealing and that, even though we're geezers, we're still not trying to rebel against out parents by listening to horrible music?

The fact that you think it's garbage is entirely up to your subjective taste.

Blut Aus Nord - Chapter I

Amazing fucked up ambient black metal project. I fucking hope this guy isn't a nazi.

EDIT: only reason why I say that is because some of his work is distributed by Candlelight, who are known to adopt a 'racial consciousness' (their words, iirc) approach to some of the music they release. Otherwise I've always thought that BAM has always had more in common with Wolves in the Throne Room and industrial decay in general than puerile far right politics.

Cheesy Awesome. Never come across them before.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Really? I thought they were pretty well known。That album is terrific、and rather Industrial。They’ve also done more traditional–sounding BM、but still excellent material like their Memoria Vetusta II Dialogue With The Stars album。

Enslaved's Frost is the best 90's Norwegian black metal album IMO:

Agreed on both counts! Though I must say I listen more to Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk these days. Oh, and Prometheus.

Currently have the latests Enslaved album, In Times, on the go. Utterly magnificent.

Statement on The Passing Of H.R. Giger
    http://www.hrgiger.com
As many of you now have heard, “Hans Ruedi” Giger, known to the World as H.R. Giger, passed away yesterday at the age of 74. We are absolutely heartbroken over the loss of this loving husband, selfless friend, and supremely talented artist.

He truly was one of a kind, committed to his craft, to his friends and to his family. His warm personality, incredible generosity, and sharp sense of humor, were in stark contrast with the universe he depicted in his art. We would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful tributes that have been written following H.R. Giger’s death. These kind words and appreciation of his artistry continue to nourish and lift our hearts at this most devastating of times, and to know that his art has inspired and entertained so many people is of unimaginable comfort.

As much as Giger shunned the limelight, preferring his work to speak for him, he was greatly appreciative of every compliment he ever received and we know he would be amazed and humbled by the kindness that continues to be the subject of his eulogies. In a career with so many star-studded highlights, it is only natural that many have mentioned his world famous brainchild, ALIEN, since the news broke this morning. It was certainly a creation which Giger prized, much as he took great pride in his collaboration with myriads of music industry and film artists, since he began his glorious journey as a world class painter, sculptor and designer.

Our priority now is to support his wife Carmen Maria Scheifele Giger, and the extended Giger family, and ask that you respect our privacy during this time, so we may mourn the loss of our beloved “Hans Ruedi”.

    The H.R. Giger Family
