  • Attention all members: UK and International support resources
     OP - November 26, 2007, 11:26 PM

A catalogue, organised on a by-country basis, is being built up here - UK and International support resources

So far we have pages for Australia, Denmark, Ireland, Norway and the UK.

I would like to draw your attention to this thread:

UK Links to organisations for those in danger

And ask if you could collect the information from your countries and areas and please add them to the resource centre.  Try to get information on the organisations that you think could help someone facing abuse, the fear of honour killing, violence from family membrs based on sexuality etc because they could make all the difference to a muslim feeling they can risk becoming an ex muslim, or an ex muslim who has to get away quickly.

These links could potentially save a future member, and help them become free from enslavement.

    Thank you.  Smiley

I went looking, but found zilch to do with Ireland.  I'll try again later, but I think the best I will find is a UK org which has a branch in Northern Ireland.

Really?  how strange, is the rate of domestic violence in Ireland minimal then?  :-\

    Thanks for trying though  Smiley

Hmm.. maybe my search was too specific.  I was looking for organisations that deal with the problems faced by muslims and ex muslims.  I'll do a more general search about family and domestic violence issues.

Yeah, I wanted to have a few organisations that deal solely with apostates, or fear of honour killing, but unfortunatly there aren;t that many.

But domestic violence, violence based on sexuality, other things that we know muslims/apostates will face, we can add them, even if they are not specific.

Sometimes people need to run, and the reasons that would make them run, are the kind of links I am looking for.

Canterbury Bankstown Domestic Violence Response Team are located in Bankstown, Sydney Australia, they are great 'cause they have lots of resources for women from Arabic speaking backgrounds (apostasy isn't an issue with them). Can't find their number at the moment, but if one wanted to get a referral to them asking police or DoCs would do the job. These guys are really good.

Other than that contacting the National Australian DV Hotline Number 1800 200 526 is a good place to start if you fear for your life from family members.

Nice one. Just gave me an idea too. We should whip up custom pages by country, and have them all linked from one menu. Much more navigable if someone actually is in the poo and needs help in a hurry.

     Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

So true, Australia is nortorious for it's many pubs. At one point I lived in a town that had a really small population (I think no more than 4000) that had 6 pubs, and another that had a pub but no shops or postoffice or anything, it was so small in fact that it only had about 50 houses and yet it had a pub.

Test pages are here for the Support Resources - Worldwide List of Countries and here for the Support Resources - Australia page.

because the usa is so big, im not sure how to break it down.  But ANYTIME
you call a "national number" they know how to handle your case no matter
    what state you are in.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.

Australia is nortorious for it's many pubs. At one point I lived in a town that had a really small population (I think no more than 4000) that had 6 pubs, and another that had a pub but no shops or postoffice or anything, it was so small in fact that it only had about 50 houses and yet it had a pub.

Welcome to anywhere in rural Britain or Ireland.

From where you may have got the idea in the first place.

Bump before the 1 year anniversary of my suggested additions for the "Denmark" entry 040

Please notify me if my additions are going into the resource profile for Denmark because then I'll check the current information and I'm also aware of at least one new organisation I would like to add to the list together with a little extras on the information for some of the others.

    Can't you do it? Huh?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
