    If I was salafi muslim that leans heavily towards hanbali maddhab, I would reject this ruling based on the fact that this scholar has made a wrong interpretation. Qur'an has been silent on masturbation and never explicty states its haraam. However it is considered haram by Malik ibn Anas and Imam Shafi'I (which I believe it was the source the OP quoted from) and teh twelvers. Again if I was a salafi muslim I won't accept the ruling on the basis that qur'an hasn't explicitly states so.


    Accordin to Ibn Hazm and the hanbali madhhab, it is halal only under two condition;
    - the fear of commtting fornication or adultery
    -not having the means to marry.

In my opinion this is the strongest of the reasons for circumcision.

    I'm seriously confused. How do some people define "sex addiction"? I can understand that any "natural" or other behaviour that becomes a destructive force in your life is bad, especially if it hinders you to live a normal and balanced life. Butt sometimes it feels like people like using this fairly modern diagnose to either a) get away with being a cheating douche bag or b) shaming sexual desires and masturbation. You don't necessarily have a condition to hide behind when you cheat and lie to your partner. You are not sick and weird if you feel the need to sexually satisfying yourself on a daily basis, even if that means self pleasure.

    I just feel that "sexual/masturbation adfiction" has become seriously over used lately.

    I'm gonna be a bore now. At first thought, I would say that any act which you feel you must do, buth which causes problems and is a hindrance to manage your every day life (like work, school, social life), is destructive. Maybe not an "addiction", but most surely not a good habit.

    If you spend your day at home, loitering around doing nothing, and decide to masturbate 10 times I see no wrobg. But if you can't keep a job or concentrate at school or say no to social interaction with friends because you must masturbate 10 times, then sonething may be wrong. If you live in Sweden during winter, and you fuck up at school or work, or you can't go outside during certain hours, because you have to fit dhuhr, asr and maghrib between 11:00 and 15:00, then praying is certainly not that good for a productive and balanced person Roll Eyes by the way, we touched upon this in the thread "Things Islam didn't know, or fuck up" Smiley

    For me I was always too busy to pray all 5 at the right times, so instead it just became another thing to feel guilty about (Islam is good at that).

    I thought the story went that Moses recommended that Mo goes to ask god for a reduction, and it was actually Mo who did the negotiations directly with god, Moses just gave him the idea but didn't actually do the bartering.

    Mo couldn't do it on his own, he didn't even come up with the idea. Moses is the hero here, Mo just did what he was told. On the other hand it seems quite ridiculous that an all knowing god didn't get it right from the start. The story has no profound or deeper meaning to it really.

    Well many believers paint it as evidence to show just how absolutely brilliant Mo was. I mean, to be able to change the mind of the omniscient "Creator of the Entire Universe" (TM), that's gotta count for something.

    I have a question about the story you two are discussing. But Moses intervened and told Mo to go back to allah and say it is too much. This based on Moses' experience with his own people. Finally, Mo said he was "too shy" to go back a sixth time to ask for less prayers (each time it was basically reduced with 10 prayers until allah said 5 would be fine) when Moses said "five is still too much". So Muslims should thank Moses for that. And be pissed off with Mo for being such a pussy.
