Douglas Murray will be at Conway Hall 6.30 next Wednesday, Shahid - along with Maryam and the gang - discussing "Enemies not Allies".

Basically how we must stand by our ideals and principles and never stand with any group that may want to hold hands with us on specific issues - when in other issues they contradict our principles.

Don't worry.. I would have prepared one big question. All I want is a few people surrounding me, so that surrounding crowd don't try to intimidate me. Also if all of us raise hands, the mic would actually come to us..

    HowTheLightGetsIn
The philosophy and music festival at Hay
    26th May - 5th June 2011

    http://www.howthelightgetsin.org/

This is strange event that I've never heard of before, but it sounds interesting.  It's a festival of speakers and thinkers with music thrown in too.

It's in Hay-On-Wye which is in Wales.

If you want a bit more than just music that you find at Glastonbury/Reading, and you want to engage your brain a bit then this is the festival for you.

    Speakers at this event include:

    Maryam Namazie
    AC Grayling
    Yasmin Alibhai-Brown
    Douglas Murray
    Johann Hari
    Lauren Booth
    Yvonne Ridley
    Peter Hitchens
    Vince Cable
    Anjem Choudary!
    Ziauddin Sardar

    and more... http://www.howthelightgetsin.org/speakers-and-performers/

    Anjem Choudary!

    A cunning plan.

Entice him up to Hay. Ply him with canapés and prosecco. Parade a few nubile publishing assistants before him.

    And we'll turn him. Easy.

Anjem Choudary, Abu Izzadeen and Saiful Islam are going to be on The Big Questions on BBC1 this Sunday talking about Islam in Britain.

Jeez, that's the most radical line-up the BBC have got on one show.  I wonder who else will be on there to counter their arguments.

It'll be a useless debate to be honest. Having Anjem and Izzadeen only skews the debate, it also leaves little room for proper criticism, because the impulse in the audience is to counter them by not criticising the aspects of Islamic belief that do require scrutiny.

    Anjem just tweeted this...

Declined to take part in BBC1s BIG QUESTIONS on Sunday The 'muslim' head of the BBC wants to sideline the truth & promote a lot of apostates

That's a shame.  I was looking forward to that.

So much for bringing the fight to the infidels.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

The Sheikhs are coming to Wembley Arena!  In another event with "Peace" in it's title...  Roll Eyes

    http://www.peaceforhumanity.co.uk/

    Saturday 24th September 2011

    Speakers...

    Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Shaykh Dr. Ahmad Omar Hashim [Egypt]
Shaykh As’ad Muhammad Sagharji [Syria] – TBC
Shaykh Dr. ’Abd al-Fadeel al-Qawsi [Egypt] – TBC
    Shaykh Hasan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri [Egypt/Pakistan]
    Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad [UK]
    Shaykh Ahmed Babikir [UK/Sudan]
    Shaykh Muhammad al-Ninowy [USA]
Mufakkir al-Islam Shaykh Dr. Abdul Qadir Shah [UK]
    Shaykh Fiaz-ul-Hassan Shah [UK]
Mr Richard Barnes (Deputy Mayor of London)
    Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali[USA]
    Noor Muhammad Jarral [USA]
Dr. Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury)[UK] via video-message
    Prof. John L. Esposito [USA]
    Dr. Joel Hayward [UK]
    Mesut Kurtis[Macadenia]
Qari Waheed & Naveed Chisti [Pakistan]

To be fair, all of the speakers seem more on the moderate side of Islam compared to other scholars.  Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri is the scholar who issued an anti-terrorist fatwa.  Also, WTF is the Archbishop of Canterbury doing in that line-up?  If he wants "Peace for humanity" then I trust he'll stand on stage and condemn the killing and persecution of Christians in the Muslim world.

William Lane Craig is touring the UK right now.

    The Reasonable Faith Tour 2011

A series of lectures and debates with Professor William Lane Craig

    http://www.bethinking.org/the-reasonable-faith-tour-2011/programme-for-the-reasonable-faith-tour-2011.htm

He has challenged Richard Dawkins to attend his debate on Tue 25th Oct in Oxford.  He's gonna leave an empty seat for Dawkins should he wish to attend.  Cheesy  The debate will be called "Is God a Delusion?" A Critique of Dawkins' The God Delusion.

On a side note, I bet Hamza Tzortzis will be attending many of his lectures and taking notes.
