    Haha, I like learning new languages... it's definitely a challenge but it will be worth it.
    I'm also going to try to do it all without any formal lessons.

    It gets kinda boring when it comes to learning the grammar rules and memorizing etc.. wacko
    I think the best way to learn a language is to speak it.
    You will know all the grammar rules but if you dont know how to put them into practice, it gets harder.

    Thanks, I've previously learnt Spanish so I have some experience of how to learn foreign languages... but arabic is quite different  Roll Eyes

    yeezevee, the language is Urdu. Basically the writer is bragging that an Indian actress converted to Islam. She should move to Pakistan for few months and find out what is the real Islam. They will kill a Muslim who converts to some other religion but they will shamelessly brag if some ignorant fool converts to Islam.

    I share Saif's pain, my roman urdu isn't the greatest but it's nowhere near the comedic value of his. I have no problems speaking Urdu lekin yeh roman bakwaas a mujhe bahut hii takliif de rahaa hai.

    It's worse because of the letters in Urdu that don't correspond to English ones. Quite a few Indian films, for example, write Romanised Film Hindi titles correctly, but counter-intuitively. There was one film called 'Road/Path'. The actual title was 'sarak', but because it's a retroflex 'r' it sounds closer to a 'd', so they'd spelt it 'Sadak'.

    Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
    Another funny thing are those (iirc, pathans et al.) who mix up their genders whilst speaking Urdu.
